Early Learning | Early Childhood Screening | September 25, 2026

Early Childhood Screening is recommended for all children between the ages of three to five years. The best age to screen at is roughly three years, six months.  Its purpose is to affirm a child’s development and identify any early needs for educational assistance or community resources. It is a snapshot of your child on that particular day and time, not a predictor of future success. It is also a state requirement in order to attend Kindergarten at a public school in Minnesota. This free screening includes a review of all growth and development, immunizations, hearing and vision.  

Sign up online at www.westonkace.org or call (952) 491-8580 to schedule an appointment. If you are on the school census list, the school district may call you to schedule an appointment. If you would like to be a conscientious objector to Early Childhood Screening, please email the program coordinator, Sarah Grimm, to obtain the paperwork to complete.

Appointments should take approximately one hour to complete and are held at the Educational Service Center, 5901 Sunnyfield Road, Minnetrista in the lower level of the building. Enter on the east side of the building.  We ask that you take the following measures prior to your child’s screening appointment:

• We ask that no siblings attend your child's screening and a maximum of two parents. We ask that only the child being screened and a maximum of two parents attend the appointment 
• Complete all the necessary paperwork prior to the appointment and bring a copy of your child’s immunization record.
