Adult Basic Education | GED Preparation (Ages 17 & older)
Adult Basic Education Westonka Community Education and Services is a member of the WEST ABE Consortium. ABE and ELL classes are free and ongoing, please register in advance. To register or for more information, visit westonkace.org or call 952.491.8040. Classes are held in the Western Communities Action (WeCAN) building, 5213 Shoreline Dr., Mound. GED Preparation General Education Development (GED) is a self-paced program designed to help you study and prepare to take the GED test. GED is available for adults ages 17 years and older and not enrolled in high school. GED students who are 17 or 18 years of age will need an age waiver to take the GED test. This waiver can be found on ged.com. The GED credential increases opportunities for employment, job advancement, and further education. CPR/AED and First Aid Certification Instructor, Shelly Nahan, RN, BSN, PHN; Health & Safety Specialist with Team Take Heart Would you know what to do in a cardiac, breathing or First Aid emergency? The right action can help save a life! With an emphasis on hands-on learning, this First Aid/CPR/AED course gives you the skills to save a life. Training meets OSHA's Best Practices for the Workplace First Aid Training for the infant, child and adult. Skills include how to respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies in all ages, CPR, use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) and choking. First Aid will include wounds, and bandaging, burns, head, muscle, bone and joint injuries, heat and cold emergencies, poisonings and sudden illnesses. Upon completing this course, you will receive a two-year certification.
